Every Child Matters

Wellkin honours the lives and spirits of the 215 innocent children, whose bodies were recently discovered at the Kamloops Residential School.

These children were stolen from families and communities that loved them and they fell victim to shameful violence at the hands of the Canadian residential school system. It is our hope that this tragic discovery raises awareness and acceptance of the truth that Indigenous children and their families have been, and still are, subjected to great injustice in our country and puts into perspective that today, just as should have been realized then, Every Child Matters.

Wellkin sends its love, compassion, and condolences to the families affected and the entire Indigenous community grappling with this loss.

A national Indian Residential School Crisis Line has been set up to provide support for former students and those affected. Access emotional and crisis referral services by calling the 24-hour national crisis line: 1-866-925-4419.

Support is also available for anyone affected by the lingering effects of residential schools, and those who are triggered by the latest reports. The Indian Residential School Survivors Society (IRSSS) can be contacted toll-free at 1-800-721-0066

Of course, Wellkin’s support services are always available in times of need or crisis 24/7 at 1-877-539-0463 as well.
